The fret board of this guitar detects the amount of pressure applied by the player to affect the volume and pitch of the note.

Finger pressure on QTC fretboard produces chord change

Pads made from QTC (a pressure sensitive conductor) would be put along the neck of the guitar. As the musician played the pitch and volume of the note could be controlled by the pressure and location of their fingers on the fret board.

The guitar also features infrared 'stings' for strumming and plucking effects
